The Ministry of Health invites applications from suitably qualified persons to pursue a two (2) year Full-time Programme to be conducted by the Ministry of Health for Enrolled Nursing Assistant from January 24, 2011.

This training programme will be conducted at the following Centres:

i) Nursing Assistant Training School, Nurses Hostel, Paradise Pasture, San Fernando

ii) Nursing Assistant Training School, St. Ann’s Hospital, St. Ann’s

PROGRAMME DETAILS

The Nursing Assistant Training Programme is designed to expose trainees to selected theory and practice during the first six (6) months of training after which they are required to write the Nursing Council’s Examination.  In addition, a practical examination will be conducted at the end of the first year followed by a one (1) year internship

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

All applicants must:

(a) be citizens of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago; and

(b) be between the ages of seventeen (17) and forty-five (45) years.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:

All applicants must:

possess three (3) Ordinary Level subjects at G.C.E or C.X.C (General Proficiency Level) Grades I, II and III ( from June 1998 onward) inclusive of English Language.

N.B.  Additional training in any health related areas would be a definite advantage.

CONDITIONS OF TRAINING:

• A stipend will be offered;
  
• Students will be required to provide their own uniforms, books, meals, accommodation and transport; and
  
• Students will not be required to meet any tuition fees.

CONTRACTUAL OBILGATION:

Upon successful completion of the training programme, trainees will be bonded to serve the Ministry of Health/Regional Health Authorities for a period of one (1) year.

PREPARATION AND SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS:

Applications must be completed on the approved form and submitted to the Regional Health Authority where the applicant would like to be employed, no later than November 29, 2010.

APPLICANTS MUST SUBMIT

The following should be submitted along with the completed application form.

(a) a medical form to be completed by a registered medical practitioner;

(b) certificate of good character (no more than six (6) months old);

(c) a precise postal address and a telephone/contact number;

(d) copies of academic G.C.E or C.X.C (General Proficiency Level) Certificates,

(e) copies of two (2) testimonials (no older than six (6) months and must have a contact number for the person giving the testimonial);

(f) copy of Birth Certificate and Affidavit, if necessary;
