The Ministry of Health is confident that its surveillance system is working very well and continues to assist the Ministry in rapidly tracing and confirming all H1N1 cases.
This assists greatly in managing community transmission and as such the Ministry is satisfied that our surveillance system, followed by isolation of confirmed cases continues to prevent the virus from becoming widespread. So we continue to be satisfied that the virus is not widespread in communities since we have been able to identify the link in almost all cases.
All cases, thus far have been mild and all affected persons are recovering well.
The Ministry would like to advise the public that we have released our ‘Guidelines for Mass Gatherings during a Pandemic’. This is now widely available at our website, www.health.gov.tt .
We will continue to update the public through the media regularly as the situation evolves.
The Ministry of Health is again continuing its call to citizens to practice good hygiene (washing hands) and proper respiratory etiquette (cover your cough, sneeze, etc). All citizens are further urged to seek official information on Influenza A/H1N1 through the Ministry’s
