Ambulance (Dial 811)

Dial 811 toll-free from any telephone in Trinidad and Tobago in cases of medical emergency. This service is free and it will transport you to the nearest public health institution.

Blood Transfusion / Donation

The National Blood Transfusion Service (otherwise known as the "Blood Bank") collects, screens and distributes a safe, adequate supply of blood and blood components.

Cancer Care and Treatment

All citizens of Trinidad and Tobago are entitled to cancer care and treatment free of charge. Please note that you must be referred by a doctor before you can access treatment for cancer.

Chemistry, Food and Drugs Division

The CFDD is comprised of: Food and Drug Inspectorate, Pesticides and Toxic Chemicals Inspectorate and Laboratory Services.


The Chronic Disease Assistance Programme provides citizens with free prescription drugs and other pharmaceutical items to combat several health conditions.

Dental Services

Dental services are provided between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday at specific health centres.

Environmental Health

The Environmental Health Unit is responsible for the effective control and prevention of Environmental Health hazards.

Hansen's Disease Treatment

Hansen’s disease can be cured with the modern multiple drug therapy without causing damage to the nerves, but only when recognized and properly treated early.

Health Screening in Schools

Hearing and Vision Screening for all 1st year Primary School students (Public and Private Schools).  Screening is done in both public and private schools with the goal of improving the quality of life and learning outcomes.


The Ministry of Health provides immunization services at no charge to citizens of Trinidad and Tobago through the Extended Programme on Immunization.
